2013 March: First Evolvix Worker released
Advances in the design of the overall infrastructure of Evolvix allowed the release of the first special purpose Worker for Evolvix with the nickname "Ratch". It focusses on a special population genetics model known as "Muller's ratchet" and is derived from the Evolution@home Simulator005. While this special purpose simulator has a much narrower scope than the general-purpose simulators that are about to be released, it does mark a special place in the Evolvix world for two reasons.
First, the work that went into developing Evolvix Worker Ratch has inspired many of the lessons that crucially shape the design of Evolvix.
Second, even the release of the most powerful general purpose simulators will not remove the necessity of simulating some special cases with dedicated Evolvix Workers, simply because this is faster. Evolvix as a language must therefore support such special purpose simulator´.
2012 July: First presentation about Evolvix
The first public presentation about Evolvix was given at the workshop on modeling languages that was associated with the 2012 EvoSysBio Meeting in Madison.

EvoSysBio Meeting with associated workshop on modeling languages, 30 July - 1 Aug 2012, Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
This workshop discussed a broad range of modeling questions and what features might be implemented in evolvix in order to facilitate investigating these questions.
