The development of Evolvix was started when the Evolvix Lead Developer Laurence Loewe started his position as Assistant Professor in the Laboratory of Genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011.
In 2012 Laurence Loewe received the prestigious NSF CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation for the grant proposal "Modeling made easy" that basically focusses on the development of Evolvix and Evolution@home.
In March 2013 the first special purpose Evolvix Worker was released.
Preparations for releasing more general simulation workers are well underway.
